What is an UnConference?
UnConferences are innovative, safe spaces where community can gather to share ideas and discuss pressing issues or concerns that are on the minds of participants in the moment of the event. Sessions are decided by participants upon at the start of the day’s event. Any participant can propose a session – do you want to lead a discussion group, get input on a new project, a reflection session, or something else all together? Remember – its all about you!
It is important going into the day to remember the five guiding principles of any UnConference event:
- The people who come are the best people who could have come.
- Whatever happens is what was supposed to happen.
- It starts when it starts.
- It’s over when it’s over.
- The Law of Two Feet: It is okay – and encouraged – to leave a session if you are not getting what you need from the topic/presentation. It means you are meant to contribute in a different space.
